Frequently Asked Questions
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
I offer 50-minute sessions, typically on a weekly basis. In terms of how many sessions you may need, counselling is a very individual and unique journey for each person. Some people may want to attend weekly sessions on a long-term basis whereas some may find that a few sessions is all they need.
I offer counselling on both a long-term basis, meaning we can continue to meet for as long as you feel you need, and a short-term basis which is typically 6 weeks.
Is Counselling Confidential?
Any information about yourself, including the fact that you are in counselling, will be confidential to Lucent Counselling. The only exception to this confidentiality will be if I am concerned that you may harm yourself or other people. I will then break confidentiality to a third party to gain support and help for you. This is in accordance with the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) ₁ of which I am a registered member. The law also requires me to report acts of terrorism, drug trafficking and money laundering.
All counsellors are required to have regular casework supervision with a professional counselling supervisor. The supervisor’s role is to support and monitor my counselling work. This forms part of my commitment to work ethically and aims to make sure I am providing the best possible service. This means I will discuss elements of our work; however, I will not use any information that will identify you personally.
I am also fully complaint with the General Data Protection Regulations as per the GDPR Act 2018 and a member of the ICO. This means I will only ever collect personal information in a lawful and accurate way. Making sure any information is stored securely and confidentially.
Do You Have a Cancellation Policy?
I kindly request that any appointment cancellations are made with at least 24 hours' notice. Any cancellations made after this period will be subject to a cancellation charge.
